Patients that have been diagnosed with the above disorders, or are experiencing sight issues, can receive treatment from our practice.
How We Can Help
After an initial examination, our specialists will design a custom treatment plan to address your particular vision issue. It is our mission to take a gentle approach to restoring your sight. Each of our corneal procedures remove the damaged tissues and replace it with healthy donor tissue. The following methods are proven to be successful in improving vision:• Descemet's Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty (DSAEK) – a procedure to replace tissue in the inner cornea
• Descemet's Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty (DMEK) – a procedure that replaces only a thin layer of the cornea
• Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty (DALK) – where the topmost layers of the cornea are replaced
Common Questions about Corneal Surgery:
Am I too young for surgery?
Corneal surgery is safe for patients of nearly all ages, especially in the case of keratoconus, a disease that can affect teenagers.
What can I expect after treatment?
After healing is complete, your vision should be clear. After the surgery, you can still receive corrective treatments like LASIK, but will still need to wear glasses or contact lenses.
Is donor tissue safe?
Donor tissue is always checked for signs of disease or damage. Our doctors will never place a cornea that does not meet our strict health requirements. We are committed to a successful surgery and the full recovery of your sight.
